What do I need to demonstrate during my interview with TIC TWO?

A strong interest in China, a willingness to face the challenges that China and the TIC TWO program will present you with, a professional attitude and some common sense!

Do I need to speak Mandarin?

No. Your direct line manager will either be an English speaking Chinese native or foreign expatriate. Shanghai is a multi-cultural city where English is widely spoken. Our Mandarin lessons will help to ensure you can pick up the basics to help you get around.

What qualifications or working experience do I need to apply?

We require all applications to have completed or currently be enrolled in a degree program. Working experience will certainly help during your interviews and increase your chance of placement, however, should you not have any working experience yet you will need to demonstrate what other extracurricular activities you have partaken in, coupled with a professional attitude. All applicants must speak fluent English. Should you already speak some Mandarin you will have ample opportunity to practice in and out of the office environment.

What is your deadline for applications?

Typically we request all applications are received at least six weeks prior to your program start date.

PRE-DEPARTURE INFORMATION

What should I bring to China?

A detailed list of things you should bring to China will be included in your Pre-Departure welcome pack.

What medical / insurance issues to I need to take care of?

Certain vaccinations are advised before traveling to China, these include Hepatitis, Tetanus and Polio. We advise you to consult with your family doctor prior to departing.

How do I acquire a visa?

Once you have successfully been accepted onto the program all details with regards to obtaining your visa will be sent directly to you.

ARRIVING IN CHINA

Who will support me in China?

Our staff will be on hand to deal with any issues 24hrs a day. Our program team are your mentors, guides and friends in Shanghai. Use them to your full advantage.

How do I prepare myself for all that China will throw at me?

Our staff are available 24hrs a day, even before you depart. We will tell you everything you need to know before landing and help you out with anything once you’re here. If you’ve been accepted on the program chances are you are a driven, mature, young professional with an open mind and positive attitude. If you have this, you’re half way there.

Where will I live?

Your accommodation is situated in the heart of Shanghai. The accommodation comes with wireless internet, TV, utility facilities, A/C and includes all bills as part of the program fee.

Will I be picked up from the airport?

Yes, our staff will be waiting for you at the arrival gate along with the other TIC TWO participants.

THE BUSINESS INTERNSHIP PLACEMENT

How will I get to work?

Your welcome pack will give you 3 different options for getting to your office – taxi, metro and subway.

Will I work with any other foreigners?

Generally speaking yes, however, some international companies we work with localise their business completely. Rest assured your line manager and many of your colleagues will speak English.

Is it possible to secure a full time position with my company after completing my internship?

Yes. It will depend on our partnering companies current head count and budget but ultimately it is down to your performance during your internship.
